SEIS allows you as a company seeking finance to significantly reduce the exposure that investors have if all goes wrong. It also makes the incentives if all goes well much greater. It means that when you pitch to investors, it becomes a lot easier for them to take the risk of investing in you and it is one of the most generous tax breaks HMRC has given to companies seeking finance ever.

This video explains why SEIS is so great for qualifying companies seeking finance:

If you qualify for SEIS and you don't go through the 3 steps outlined here, you have made your job of raising finance a lot harder. You also significantly reduced investors potential returns and increase their exposure unnecessarily if you don't qualify your company. .

Coaching Turkish Style,

I show this clip to clients and prospects, quite often we have a perception of things that are embedded in the past, if coaching represents someone dominating you and intimidating you, then perhaps your mind was made up years ago.... or there are current examples of coaches working this was....what I call OLD SCHOOL Coaching.

My style and favoured approach is one of Collaboration and Empowerment - my clients take action as a result of a sense of purpose...

In short they are INSPIRED..!!

Enjoy the clip.....by the way this is not my dad!

To find out more about an inspired approach to coaching and how that can positively impact you and your business, please contact me on 020 8123 6617...

Why you should listen to her:

For ten years (1969-1979),

Diana Nyad was the greatest long-distance swimmer in the world.

In 1979, she stroked the longest swim in history, making the 102.5-mile journey from the island of Bimini (Bahamas) to Florida.

She also broke numerous world records, including what had been a 50-year mark for circling Manhattan Island, setting the new time of 7 hrs 57 min. She is a member of the National Women’s Hall of Fame and the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

What do you think - feel - know about what you can or cannot achieve??

Ernesto Sirolli got his start doing aid work in Africa in the 70's -- and quickly realised how ineffective it was.

Why you should listen to him:

Ernesto Sirolli is a noted authority in the field of sustainable economic development and is the Founder of the Sirolli Institute, an international non-profit organization that teaches community leaders how to establish and maintain Enterprise Facilitation projects in their community.

The Institute is now training communities in the USA, Canada, Australia, England and Scotland.

In 1985, he pioneered in Esperance, a small rural community in Western Australia, a unique economic development approach based on harnessing the passion, determination, intelligence, and resourcefulness of the local people.

The striking results of "The Esperance Experience" have prompted more than 250 communities around the world to adopt responsive, person-centered approaches to local economic development similar to the Enterprise Facilitation® model pioneered in Esperance.

Great talk...but important - Great Listen...!

I saw this article on Karen Guntons web site called "build a little biz.com," so I am not taking any credit for it, just thought she said it better than me and most of the Social Media experts I have listened to out there...if you want to use her she is in Adelaid South Auatralia....

If you read business blogs,

books, and articles you will likely have read all about creating a sales funnel with your marketing efforts; where you move your leads down the funnel until they become paying customers.

Maybe my mind is not linear enough for that visual, but i just don't see it as a funnel. I can't even explain it as a funnel. (all can see in my mind, actually, is a bunch of cows being herded through one of those gates in the barn yard. moooo.)

I think of marketing as being more like spirals going around and around, building relationships and engagement, with one interaction leading into another, a like a dance "lead your partner round and round..."

I was recently doing a workshop with a client where we were talking about setting up an online marketing plan using social media, blogging, and a newsletter, her question was: "but what do I DO with each of those things. Aren't I already engaging with people on Facebook, why do i need a blog? Aren't I already sharing content on my blog? Why do I need a newsletter?"

The beauty of these tools is that they are not exclusive; they work together and build off one another like a group of dancers going around and around. I did up a sketch to show how I use these tools (no funnels involved). I do have lots of overlap, lots of linking, and notice that it is all about the customer, not about the business or me.

For example:

if I find that a question on Facebook gets lots of engagement I can write a longer blog post to help people. If it is truly helpful, it will get shared by others using social media, that will then bring traffic to my website where people will see my call to action to sign up to the newsletter.

When they get the newsletter they will see more links to other helpful blog posts as well as stuff we chatted about on social media all week long.

That will get more traffic to my Facebook page which will mean that more people will see my future blog posts which will then get shared too, and all three of those places have links directly back to my website where people can get more help by purchasing my products and services.

It's a dance, not a funnel and if one of those circles were missing, the others wouldn't be nearly as effective...nor as much fun!

Absolutely love Karen's style and approach....great job..!!

Clients of mine have heard me say say on may occasions during the sales process, don't forget the Columbo stage;

The basics of understanding your client is all about asking simple questions and listening to the responses and answers.

This classic scene with Peter Falk and William Shatner...from the series Columbo is a bit of fun but you get the point?

Often we over complicate life in general,

but keep your sales process really simple, have 4-6 stages and then develop as you go...for more on this call me on 020 8123 6617

Diving horses...

Leaping from as high as 60 feet (the impact of which on one occasion blinded the rider), used to be a popular seaside attraction. This photograph was taken in Atlantic City at the Steel Pier where horse diving finally came to an end in 1978.

What bizarre business practices are you still running... ?

You can look at this photo in horror or disgust, but I ask you, how are you reviewing your practices and day to day routines within your business?

What have you stopped doing, what are you looking at introducing, which ones work and which ones are you hanging onto.

It takes courage to change,

It takes balls to be open to an out side perspective, most of my clients tell me I wish we had started 18months ago....

If you are thinking about moving your business forward and are considering options, please feel free to contact me for a meeting, I would be delighted to sit with you and go though some of the options my clients have said works for them.

Call me on 0208 1236 617 I look forward to speaking with you.

We hear words all the time, there is an unprecedented flow into our conscious and unconscious...

But what do these words mean...how are we using them and how are they shaping our worlds...?

They say WORDs Create, WORLDs..

What words are creating and defining your world, your business, your family and your passions?

I have been looking at the word Collaboration recently with an intention of unifying a group of highly motivated and talented people, to create a business that will impact the hearts, minds and lives of all we work with.

What are your favorite words and why?

How do these words define you and your business?

I would love to hear from you...

We live in uncertain times, known heritage brands are falling like giants amongst us, the pace of change will never be this slow again....

Gearing up with RESILLIANCE is now more than ever an essetntial part of your business

The term VUCA has been used by the US military...

I know it's not easy,

but you need a strategy, WHAT's YOUR's....?

V – Volatility

U – Uncertainty

C – Complexity

A – Ambiguity

VUCA is an acronym used to describe or reflect on the volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity of general conditions and situations. The common usage of the term VUCA began in the late 1990s and derives from military vocabulary and has been subsequently used in emerging ideas in strategic leadership that apply in a wide range of organizations, including everything from for-profit corporations to education.

The deeper meaning of each element of VUCA serves to enhance the strategic significance of VUCA foresight and insight as well as the behaviour of groups and individuals in organizations.

V = Volatility.

The nature and dynamics of change, and the nature and speed of change forces and change catalysts.

U = Uncertainty.

The lack of predictability, the prospects for surprise, the sense of awareness and understanding of issues and events.

C = Complexity.

The multiplex of forces, the confounding of issues and the chaos and confusion that surround an organization.

A = Ambiguity.

The haziness of reality, the potential for misreads, and the mixed meanings of conditions; cause-and-effect confusion.

How to make your business bullet proof?

Developing your BRAND,

is a good option and somewhere you can get started.

What if....?

All Wretch and No Vomit

(a not-disgusting post on doing what you love)

This is a really great lecture from Alan Watts, a British philosopher. It’s well worth the three minutes to watch. It brings up some points that I struggle with a lot.

Watts talks about encouraging his students and listeners to do the thing they love most, because there’s no point wasting a lifetime trying to earn enough money to be stable enough to begin doing what you love to do.

Better to lead a short life doing what you love than a long life doing what you don’t.

What would your life be for....??

Call me on 020 8123 6617 - I am interested.

Social media although pretty new and considered by many adults to be “for the kids,” has become of increased importance to companies and how the sites affect business.

What’s so great about social media is there is a humongous network of people all there in one place (1 billion Facebook users and half a billion twitter users) and you can potentially inform, advertise or share with any number of them just as soon as they click that like or follow button on your companies page. Not only is it an insane amount of people all on one site it’s also FREE!!!!

The perception of social media marketing has shifted quickly: no longer viewed as a trendy or passing fad, having a flexible and well-managed presence in each of the “big three,” has become a must for any business seeking to secure a place in both the traditional and digital marketplace.

What could once be done by just a companies website has now turned into a multi utilisation of several websites tools including LinkedIn, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Google+.

So to summarise social media is what it is. Its 1 billion users there to be social and interact with one another and it’s the mass sharing of personal data. But it’s also what you make of it. It is hundreds of millions of people readily reachable all on one site. But the real role of social media is what you make of the access to these millions of people…

The way I see it is it’s a free advertisement broadcasted to 1 billion accounts (although studies show active users are substantially less)

If you want to find out more about how social media can increase profitability of your business or how it can generate more leads contact us on 020 8123 6617
