The real power of networking is all about meeting and following up with people...if you just give your card out...people may...or may not get in touch with you. The proactive net-worker takes full responsibility for the relationship, here is a simple but highly effective process for nurturing relationships.


 

Keep your your businesses card and contacts...safe in your CRM...like a great savings plan they will mature and pay you back with high dividends

 

A suggested plan...when networking,

 

1. Say hi and introduce yourself.

2. Ask your fellow net-worker about their business etc.

3. Engage them... have great questions to ask, be interested.

4. Take a business card.

5. Say you will be in touch.

6. When you get back to your office, enter their details into your data base or CRM.

7. Send an email to say hi...with links to your web site.

8. Schedule a call time.

9. Call and find out more about your contact, how you can help them, how they may be able to help you.

10. Arrange a One on One meeting to further develop your relationship.

11. Invite them to an event you are hosting or work on ways you can help them, positioning yourself as a person with valuable contacts...and opportunities for people that merit the attention.

12. Send out emails with valuable information to maintain contact with your prospect or collaborator.

13. Make sure you are thinking from a long term value driven relationship...building a reputation goes hand in hand with building a sales and contacts pipeline.

14. The longer term plan, your contacts, contacts and the bigger picture, 6 degrees of separation.

Had a great evening at the KPI - Pitch Fest last Tuesday, the standard was incredibly hi and here are the top five, the winner is Holly Helt from Chiki Tea, (second from left) she was totally outstanding.
